Life and art in a time of pandemic

Something Different is Happening…

Yet again, the creative space I occupy shifts, morphs.

I am perpetually affected by external impressions, global forces that inform my response. It is a rollercoaster ride; hills, valleys, and turns ebb and flow. Sometimes gentle sometimes sudden but always felt. Absorbed.

The Quiet series I began last fall was influenced by my reaction to overwhelmingly dark political narratives that had dominated the media relentlessly over the course of too many years. I was drained by the chaos. As a consequence, my intuitive response was to create work that was quiet, subdued. I welcomed the shift, and while in that space I made four paintings. I thought I’d lost my connection to this precious reservoir that had moved me significantly from 2017 through pre-covid19 2020. The best part is that: I have not merely re-membered it, I’m feeling braver, bolder, more liberated.

Something different is happening.
